How to teach children to keep believing when dreams seem impossible

I believe in the power of dreams. When a person has a dream, they can do, be and achieve almost anything. This young man is an amazing example of someone whose "will" is greater than his limitations. Why would anyone without fingers, hands or arms ever even consider that they could play the piano?

Teaching our children to dream is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. It is a learned skill to believe you can do anything you set your mind to. Teaching children how to achieve those dreams, however, and equipping them with the tools they need to succeed, is even more important.

Those tools include education and training, but those two things alone can only take them so far. They need vision, tenacity, innovation, creativity, freedom to fail, courage to try again, friends to take the journey with and people who believe in them.

But what happens when circumstances rise up against their dreams? For many, they simply give up.

This is where you come in. It only takes one voice of encouragement to empower a child to keep going. Your words of affirmation can outweigh every obstacle and provide the fuel for your child to rise above the overwhelming odds.

Make it a habit to speak "life" into your children every day. Simple words like, "I believe in you." or "You've got this." go way farther than you can imagine.

I'd like to know what you do to encourage your children when their dreams get hit. Please share in the comment section. You'd be surprised how something simple to you can be profound to another mother and life changing to a child. Thanks! I can't wait to hear your insights!
